Hi friends & family,
It’s been almost 10 years since I had a blog and I’m finding that I’m thrilled to once again have a space on the internet for very informal ramblings, musings, thoughts, lists, etcetera.
In the past decade, my existence online has been very much defined by my career as a journalist. I tweet about articles I write on Twitter and read the work of other reporters and am generally pretty serious because, well, topics like anti-trans legislation and the demise of Roe are pretty damn sobering.
However: Hitting ‘send’ on a single tweet after months of working on a story feels so…anti-climatic. It also erases all of the work and editing and research that goes into making the finished product. And I think the thing I love most about writing is the absolute messiness of it — which is to say, the messiness of life itself.
So! “E”mail is my personal alternative to Twitter: a place where I can share recently published work, still-in-the-works work, and ideas that may or may not someday turn into (you guessed it) more work. I’m defining work here really broadly, though — meaning that work isn’t just what I get paid, in dollars, to do, but anything and everything that I’m working on. Sewing projects, zines, archival research, grad school learnings…all of that good stuff will make its way into this newsletter at some point. It’s a catch-all — a place to deliberate, converse, learn, and grow. 🌱
On that note, thanks for being here, and please don’t hesitate to get in touch if something I mention piques your interest. I love internet friends!
Till next time,
E
